User Metadata (System Administration)

The User Metadata screen is available from the System Administrator dropdown menu and is used to manage user-related metadata items.

An administrator configures the user profile metadata. An end user can then populate the associated information. From the Admin dropdown, select User Metadata to enter the User Profile Metadata screen.

1.     From the Admin dropdown, select User Metadata.

2.     Type a descriptive name for each metadata field (e.g., Type, Trade, Location, eCode, etc.)

3.     In the Field Type dropdown, select your desired option (checkbox, select, multi-select, text, etc.)

a.      Depending on which option you select, a Values field will display on the right side of the screen so you may define your list options. Type a value in the Add Value field and click Add Value for each item you enter to create your list.

b.      Clicking Add Value places the item in the list but does not save the list. Once you have finished entering values, you must click Save to save your values list.

c.      These values will be presented to the user for selection when they choose to upload files or download metadata from the project’s file thumbnails screen.

d.      To delete a value from the list, highlight the item and click Remove Selected (be sure to click Save when finished deleting list items).

4.     Select Required to require this field be populated with data.

5.     When all desired metadata fields have been defined, click Save.

The info shows up in the User Metadata tab of the Profile information. It can be required to select, then Save. It may also be a code for a Permitting system that allows integrated writes from ProjectDox.

6.     To remove a metadata field totally, select the name in the existing metadata fields list and click Delete.

7.     You can edit any of the metadata fields by selecting the existing metadata names listed in the Existing Metadata portion of the screen and clicking Save.

8.     Click Create new metadata button to clear the currently displayed fields so you may define a new metadata field definition to be added to the list.
