Workflow Configurations (System Administration)

The Workflow Configurations administration screen provides an interface to configure and activate ProjectDox Standard workflows on a per-project basis.

Use of this screen requires a thorough understanding of ProjectDox workflow configurations. Incorrect configuration can cause the workflows to malfunction. The following material is intended as a summary only.

The Project Creator Config screen allows updating of the AppTypeIntegration table without direct access to the database.

In the Workflow Configuration screen, the Workflow Review Config tab allows direct editing of the ReviewConfig table: adding, modifying, or deleting entries.

The second tab, Review Checklist, provides an interface for managing checklists.

The last tab, Manage Workflows, is required to activate the workflows or eForms on the site.

In the workflow definitions, you can check the Single Instance checkbox to mark the definition as “run as single instance.” This allows running only one instance of a particular workflow in a single project at any time. Any attempt to start an additional instance in the project will be prevented with the message, “Please complete or cancel the existing workflow before starting another instance.”

When a workflow definition is “active” for a project, a link for the definition displays on the project-specific task list for users with Start Workflow permissions.  In some cases, the workflow may be composed of a main workflow and sub-workflows. Sub-workflows are designed to be initiated programmatically, not manually. Sub-workflows in Dynamic Review are always single instance. There cannot be two instances of them running at once as you would never know the current state. Select the Hidden checkbox in the configuration to hide the links that allow the start of sub-workflows and prevent them from being started out of sequence.
